Building Future Leaders adopts an innovative recruitment method to attract ambitious students and young people to promote the housing and construction sector as an attractive career of choice·

Fully managed internship programme

Our sector wide summer internship programme brings together different organisations to showcase the variety of job roles and career routes into the sector for young people with the aim of addressing the skills gap.

As well as handling the recruitment of the interns we will also provide in-depth induction and personal development sessions for the interns throughout the duration of the 8 week programme. These internships last 8 weeks and take place during June – August.

Why we do it

According to the Construction Training Board, by 2027, 20% of the workforce would have retired leaving the sector facing an extensive skills shortage.
A continued skills shortage will be detrimental to the development of the UK economy if concrete action isn’t taken to address the issue.
In order to meet the government's ambitions to build 300,000 homes a year, the sector will benefit from younger recruits.

Who are the interns

Interns who participate on this programme are students and those aged 18-30 years old who are innovative and creative in their thinking, analytical in their approach and passionate about social impact and making a difference in the world.
